2014-2015

Raniganj Chamber of Commerce’s prime activities in various sectors during the year 2014-15 were as follow:-

INDUSTRY:

·         Awareness Programme on NSIC Scheme for MSME’s Development was held at RCC premises by NSIC in association with Raniganj Chamber of Commerce on 28th August, 2014.

·         Interactive Programme between the Vendors of E C L held at the chamber premises on 19th December, 2014.

·         Industry and Trade Fair-2015 organised by Asansol Chamber of Commerce at Asansol was attended by the representatives of RCC.

·         Programme on Public Procurement Policy-2015 and State Level Vendor Development as organised by MSME Department was attended by the representative of RCC.

BANKING:

Some of the important issues which were taken up during the year under review are as follow:-

·         Provident Fund and Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Challan not being cleared on the same day by S B I ., Raniganj Branch.

·         Request to the Regional Manager, S B I ; Durgapur  to become sponsor of the camp for physically handicapped persons under the Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme.

·         Remittance of small coins of Rs. 1/-, Rs. 2/- & Rs. 5/- for distribution amongst our members on monthly basis.

·         Welcome and Felicitation of Chief Manager , S.B.I. Raniganj Brance & Senior Manager , Syndicate Bank, Raniganj at Raniganj Chamber of Commerce on 20th December, 2015.

RAILWAYS:

RCC has given representation to the Railway authority on the following matters:-

·         To provide Pantry Cars in the long distance mail/express trains, namely Asansol- Ahmedabad Parasnath Express, Asansol-Mumbai Mail, Asansol-Chennai Express and Howrah-Dehradoon Express.

·         A delegation of this chamber met the General Manager, Eastern Railway, Kolkata and submitted a Memorandum on Railway Passengers’ amenities to him.

·         Extension of the route of Bhagalpur Ranchi Vananchal Express upto Rourkela.

·         To reschedule the timing of Kolkata-Chittaranjan-Deeoghar Passangr.

·         To increase the frequency of the weekly Express train from Asansol to Mumbai, Asansol to Ahmedabad and Asansol to Chennai to at least thrice a week , if not daily.

·         Request to introduce one new direct superfast express train from Asansol to Guwahati via New Jalpaiguri having departure time at Asansol Junction preferably in the night.

·         Request for stoppage of Howrah - Rajdhani Express at Asansol Junction.

·         Making of Food Plaza and Escalator at Asansol Junction.

·         Construction of a F O B over the Railway Tracks  connectin school para, Raniganj and Kishan Pally on Egara Road, Raniganj

·         Request to upgrade Asansol Station to International Standard.

·         Meeting with Shri N.K.Sachan, D.R.M. Eastern Railway, Asansol on 18th March, 2015.

ELECTRICITY:

·         Demand for Mobile Cash Collection van for Raniganj.

·         Request to redress the problem of interruption of Electricity Supply and Low Voltage.

·         Restoration of the system of paying electricity bills at Raniganj Post Office.

·         Welcome and Felicitation of Shri N.S. Nigam, IAS, Chairman, W.B.S.E.D.C.L. at the Chamber on 26.09.2014 and brought the problems of the consumers to his kind notice.

·         Less generation of power at the Mejia Thermal Power Station of Damodar Vally Corporation was brought to the notice to the higher authorities.

POST AND TELECOMMUNICATION:

·         Frequent failure of the Broad Band and Mobile Phone services of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited at Raniganj.

·         Perpetual non-functioning and Call drop problems of mobile phone services.

TAXATION:

·         Difference between the figure mentioned in the Return filed and the figure shown in the Mismatch Reconcile Statement in the Commercial Tax Department’s Website.

·         Alleged harassment and misbehaviour by the officers of the Bureau of Investigation , Sales Tax Department, Asansol.

·         Suggestion for 2014-15 Central Budget – Letter to Shri  Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Govt. of India.

·         To revive Zonal Sales Tax Advisory Committee for Durgapur Zone.

·         Shri Narayan Prasad Jain, Senior Tax Practicener of Kolkata was the Chief Speaker of the Seminar, being organised by Raniganj Chamber of Commerce.

ROAD AND TRANSPORT:

·         Dharna for the demand for early completion of construction of Mangalpur By – Pass, withdrawal of the status of NH-60 of the N.S.B. Road, Raniganj.

·         To remove the unevenness in height between the main metalled road and side road of N.S.B. Road, Raniganj.

·         Repairing of the road from Station More to Bajpai More at Ukhra to prevent accident and related hazards.

·         Deplorable condition of the road leading to Ballavpur Burning Ghat.

·         NH-2 from Asansol in bad shape up to Panagarh.

·         Early repairing and reconstruction of badly damaged NH-60 in Raniganj from 275 kmp.  to 280.70 kmp.

·         Fatal road accident on N.S.B. Road, Raniganj near Kazi Nazrual’s Statue.

·         Hardship faced by the owners of two wheelers and four wheelers at the M.V. O. Asansol.

·         Introduction of CNG Auto Service in Raniganj Town.

·         Mini Buses not to park or stop on the carriage way of N.S.B. Raniganj.

COAL:

·         Several issues e.g. demand to treat the registered bona fide coal transporters as eligible to take part in the tender for Sand transport. Withdrawal of the proposal to start open cast mining at Ronai in Raniganj Town, Participation in the interactive programme between the vendors of E.C.L. & concerned officials of E.C.L.;  need for modernization and up gradation of Central Hospital, Kalla of E.C.L. were suitably and strongly taken up by the chamber with the concerned authorities of E.C.L.

CIVIC AMENITIES:

·         Irregular removal of garbage of the Dust Bins of certain areas of Raniganj.

·         Non-existence of drainage system in some places in Rambagan and other areas of the town.

·         Request to upgrade Raniganj Municipality as a Municipal Corporation.

·         Request to provide a space outside the premises of Marwari Relief Society Hospital for installation of a Bust of Late Govind Ram Khaitan.

·         Request to name a road near Raniganj Girl’s College at Searsole as G.S.Nandy Road.

·         “Swachcha Bharat Abhijan “ by the Chamber on 26-10-2014 at the Raniganj Railway Station premises.

·         Thanks extended to the Chairman, Raniganj Municipality for naming a road in memory of late G.R.Khaitan and also for providing space to install a Bust of Late G. R. Khaitan.

·         To make the stretch of N.S.B.Road, Raniganj from Marwari Sanatan Vidyalaya to Raniganj Municipality as “NO HORN ZONE”.

·         To take preventive measure to check spreading SWINE FLUE.

·         To withdraw the proposal of merger of Raniganj Municipality with Asansol Municipal Corporation.

LAW AND ORDER:

·         Request to change the time of entry of Heavy Vehicles in Raniganj Town.

·         Putting road dividers at the main roads of Raniganj.

·         Incident of attack and assaults on Dr. Suresh Kumar, near his residence at Rambagan, Raniganj.

·         To take some effective step to control the traffic movement at the crossing of Eye Hospital Road and N.S.B. Road at the time of opening and closing hours of Raniganj D.A.V. Public School.

WEIGHTS AND MEASURES CAMP:

·         Like previous year, this year too, we arranged to hold Weights and Measures Camp at Raniganj.

LABOUR:

·         Raniganj Chamber of Commerce always tries to maintain good labour relations. The chamber plays a important role in having an amicable relation with the Mutia Mazdoor Union, Raniganj Branch.

·         Raniganj Chamber of Commerce website is maintained and updated at regular interval. Important Circulars, Notices, Forms are uploaded from time to time. Our website is also connected with Facebook and Twitter.

GENERAL:

·         Raniganj Chamber of Commerce is very much thankful to the Hon’ble Ministers of Govt. of West Bengal, especially to Dr. Amit Mitra, Hon’ble Finance Minister and Commerce and Industry, and Shri Moloy Ghatak, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture {presently , M.I.C. Department of Labour} for the valuable co-operation and assistance received from them on various matters. We are also thankful to Janab Sohrab Ali, Hon’ble M.L.A., Raniganj, Sri Senapati Mondal, Sabhapati, Raniganj Panchayat Samity, Shri Anup Mitra, Chairman, Raniganj Municipality, who had always been very co-operative with us.
