2016-17

Some salient features of our activities of the year 2016-17 of Raniganj Chamber of Commerce are given below:

INDUSTRY

1.            Meeting with Dy. Director, MSME(Ancillary) Shri Dilip Dhali & Sub-DIC regarding promotion of industries in the area.”

2.            The irregular water supply at Industries at Mangalpur was taken up with the CEO, ADDA.

3.            Flow Chart and Check list given to all members to set up new industries. Attended meeting at Katha Hall on industrial matters.

4.            MSME meet at Burdwan town, in addition to these many communications made to Govt. Departments on industry related matters affecting our area from time to time

RAILWAYS

As in every year, we represented citizens’ requirements with the Railways. Some Demands were placed for new Services, increase in frequencies of services and Stoppage of Some Trains at Raniganj. Complained made about unsatisfactory function of Sulabh Toilets for Commuters.

We also demanded Wheel Chairs for Physically Challenged persons.

Request was made for Extra Long Time of Stoppage of Trains and Additional Coaches during the Peer Baba Mela

Complain regarding most regularly used Trains-Agnibeena and Coalfield Express, which run with Poor Maintenance and Cleanliness

Memorandum was submitted to DRM, Eastern Railway regarding various Demands

We have taken up Citizens Demand for Bankura-Raniganj Line for and early Executions.

Our Chamber requested for keeping at least 3 Doors open for reserved coaches of Agnibeena Express.

Dated 31/05/2016, Raniganj Chamber submitted another Memorandum with a Charter of Demands.

We requested for Emergency Quota list from Eastern Railway of Asansol Division.

 

BANKING

On 25/05/2016, Customers meet of SBI was attended by our Members.

A Bankers meet was organised by our Chamber on 14/07/2016 with Regional Manager of SBI as Chief Guest and AGM of Union Bank as Guest Speaker. Some complaints about non sanctioning of MUDRA loans were taken up.

Members joined Raniganj Co-operative Bank in the celebrations.” All India Co-operation Day” on 17/11/2016.

Letters was sent to RBI regarding the regular habit of Banks on insisting that the pay in Cheques to be dropped in a Drop Box and requested the Banks to accept Cheques acknowledged in pay in slip.

We attended “SME MEET” organised by State Bank of India on 29/01/2017.

 

ELCTRICITY

Even after many complaints and meetings with officials of WBSEDCL, the state of affairs with respect to smooth supply of electricity to Raniganj town is dismal. Chamber had received many complaints about exorbitant and astonishing Billing, which in due course was taken up with concerned officials. Chamber had written to Divisional Engineer and Others officials of WBSEDCL for redresses. Chamber had taken to interaction with India Power Corporation regarding some customer compliant, which was resolved. Our Chamber receivd Power Tariff Chart of all varieties of Connection Line from India Power Corporation. Chamber also complained to Asstt. Eng and DE about poor cable conditions in Raniganj Town.

 

POSTAL SERVICES

Many complaints were received about the reimbursement of accrue amount on NSC. KVP, PPF etc. when customers were harassed relentlessly.

We taken up the cudgels on behalf of Citizens and even had gone up  to the level of  Post Master General of India in certain cases.

TELEPHONE

The quality of Telephone service is much more to be desired. Land lines and internet services were the biggest sufferers, may be due to the construction of NH2. Regarding cell phone service, the call drop rate had increased and it appears that a full revamp of system is needed. Chamber had taken to higher levels of Authority about various complaints from users.

ROADS

 

Our Chamber had tirelessly campaigned for better roads in Raniganj and for the widening and Four Lanning of NH 60.

We had the meeting with NHAI Authorities, especially about the Panagarh to Barwadda, stretch of NH2. Educational Institutions matters were taken up with NHAI about repairs to NH60 at Girjapara/Egara Area.

We demanded wide3ning and four laning  of NH 60 from Ajoy Bridge to Damodar Bridge, by passing Raniganj Town on urgent basis.

Received confirmation from Shri Babul Suprio, MP about sanctioning of Rs 30 lakhs from MPLAD for black topping of Road from Burns Club to Egara, Kalimandir to Raniganj, Egara to Nandlal Shiksha Sadan School.

 

TAXATION

 

Like in previous years, our Chamber tried its best and solve different problems and disputes between Taxation Authorities and our Members. Chamber representatives attended many meetings conducted by Commercial Tax Authorities at Asansol/Durgapur, especially regarding Conversion from VAT to GST.

Camps were held at Raniganj Chamber of Commerce premises for Collection of Land Revenue and many Citizens came forward to avail the opportunity and pay Khazana.

 

CIVIC AMINITIES

 

Raniganj Chamber of  Commerce requested for repair to roads, Beautification of Ponds and maintenance of Stadium from time to time to Asansol Municipal Corporation.

Chamber attended anti drug rally and solid waste management programme, organised by Asansol Municipal Corporation. Programme “Nirmal Bangla” was also attended by our members.

Chamber organised Women’s Empowerment Day with Gandharv Kala Sangam during Mathura Chandi Mela.

Number of representations to Asansol Municipal Corporation regarding Trade License Fess and Holding Taxes were made.

Issues regarding Storage and Transport of Coal and Sand were taken up to AMC to issue Clear instructions, issue of hotel owners association  regarding Garbage Tax was reported.

 

HEALTH

Keeping in to mind the importance of health, Health Check u and Treatment of Members and their Families , Chamber continued the tie-up with Peerless, Fortis, B P Poddar, Rabindranath Taore, AMRI, Mission Hospital, IQ City, Gouri Devi Hospitals

Free Medical Check up Camps were done by IQ City Hospital, AMRI, Mission Hospital conducted at regular intervals.

LAW AND ORDER

 

Like Raniganj Chamber of Commerce maintained excellent relationship with Civil Administration, especially with the Police and Traffic Guard. However, sometimes, irrational and irritant problems surface and the sufferers are many.

The CCTV camera, which once were installed and had become defunct are not reinstalled. Attended meeting with Commissioner of Police along with other Chambers of Commerce.

Meeting with DM about Law and Order Situation. Meeting as in every year with Officer in Charge, Raniganj Police Station about Durga Puja/Muharrom/Mahabir Jhanda to maintain Social Harmony.

 

WEIGHT AND MEASURES

 

Like previous years, this year too we arranged to hold Weights and Measures Camp at Raniganj. Our members and other traders were able to get their weights and measures duly checked, verified and stamped by the officials of the Legal Metrology Department of Govt. of West Bengal.

 

LABOUR

 

Mutia Majdoors are playing an essential role in business arena of whole Sale trade at Raniganj. Chamber had played pivotal role in processing and expediting the agreements related to Working Hours, Bonus, and Wages.

GENERAL

 

Raniganj Chamber of Commerce always maintained excellent communication channels and cordial relations with all Govt. Quasi Government, Administration, and civic bodies at all times. This commitment is the reason behind the success and high moral heights of the Chamber.

We are very thankful to all above mentioned, especially to Mayor, Borough 2 Chairperson, MLA, Sabhapati, Raniganj Panchayet and our MP Shri Babul Supriyo for their support and advice at all time.
