Raniganj Chamber of Commerce, established in 1959, popularly known and short named as RCC, is now perhaps the oldest Mofussil Chamber of its kind not only in West Bengal but in entire Eastern India. Its membership spread from Barakar to Kolkata in West Bengal. The present strength of membership is almost 1116 (Life Members- 429 and General Members- 687) till June 2023. Several other Chambers of Commerce as well as leading trade & industry organizations of our district are its affiliates. Similarly, our Chamber is affiliated with state and national level organizations of trade and industry viz. FICCI, BNCCI, FOSBECCI etc. Our prime objective is to facilitate achieving self-sufficiency in our country in every sphere, promote the overall economic development of our region, and redress different problems faced by trade, industry & service sectors. In the process, the up-gradation of infrastructural facilities in the area has all along been our prime & paramount concern. Since its establishment, we are engaged in sincere service to the community and the society; nay to the nation, we have been primarily acting as a bridge between the Trade and Industry & different Departments of State & Central Govt. Besides safeguarding the legitimate interests of the members, rendering service to the common people has been one of the prime objectives ever since its inception. Though it may seem somewhat paradoxical, it is a fact that this Chamber acts more as an organization for the common people than an association of businessmen only. A new Ladies Wing Committee has been constituted in the year 2023, who supports and empowers women to reach both their personal as well their professional objectives, with a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship.

  This Chamber has had the privilege of having representation in many advisory and consultative committees of the Union & State Governments like Railway, Telephone etc.  

From the foundation day of the Chamber, GovindBabu, Godfather of the organization, piloted the Chamber in various capacities from executive committee member, Secretary, President to Chief Adviser. Initially, Khaitanji established the office of Raniganj Chamber of Commerce in a rented room of Sri SriSitaramjiBhawan, which was rented by PuranmalBuchasia. MannalalBharatia, FulchandSanthalia , SatyaNarayanjiGoenka were the first president, Vice President, and General Secretary of the first and founder Executive Committee. The other Executive members were NathmalBhoot, BrijlalLosalka, Govind Ram Khaitan, Badri Prasad Dalmia, Nathmal Bajaj, Ram Prasad Loharuka, MohanlalKataruka, Krishna GopalJhunjhunwala, PrahladRaiKhaitan, Dwarka Prasad Bajaj, PrahladRaiTodi, Ram GopalSaraf, SudamaPrasad Gupta, OnkarmalKhandelwal, Ramnath Shaw and BanwarilalDalmia.  

 It has had the unique distinction of being visited by many high dignitaries like former Hon’ble Governors of West Bengal, revered and most venerable Maharajs of Ram Krishna Mission ,Union & State Ministers, and senior officials of Central & State Governments, including, Chief Secretary of the State etc.

That the Chamber has traversed a glorious journey of more than six decades of remarkable services rendered not only to the trade and industry community but also to the society in general has indeed made every member proud. Be it a matter related to Industrial Development, Telephone Services, Electricity, Banking, Railways, Post & Telecommunication, Taxation, Coal, Civic Amenities, Labour, Environment and Pollution , Law and Order or stabilization of Raniganj area, the first and foremost name comes to the mind of members or the general citizen is Raniganj Chamber of Commerce.
